« Crook Kidneys :: June 30th, 2005

My little baby kitten has been diagnosed with kidney disease; more specifically, CRF - Chronic Renal Failure.

At the moment it’s in the very early stages, which means that a special diet should slow the progression of the illness, and his lifespan shouldn’t be significantly shortened. But there are no guarantees.

Darcy is completely oblivious, as he is not yet showing any symptoms. It was only discovered during a routine urinalysis, performed at his annual check-up due to his age (9 years - a geriatric in the feline world), and subsequent blood tests. He is not in any kind of pain or discomfort. But I know that I am going to be on tenterhooks with him from now on, watching and waiting for the signs.

However, I will not let this get in the way of savouring every moment that he is still here with me. In fact, I think the knowledge will ensure that I never take his companionship, affection and antics for granted. Each day will be even sweeter.

I Believe In a Thing Called Love by The Darkness

“I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everythin’ is A.OK!”

You played it cheesy and campy in 2004, but you know how to rock out.

In an old episode of Home Improvement, Tim designed the ultimate man’s bathroom, which included such features as a television and a bar fridge.

Yesterday I saw a shower unit that nearly matched Tim’s specifications.

NOTE: I am not making this up. This unit is available for purchase from CJR Industries for a measly few thousand dollars. Only I wouldn’t recommend you go there, as their customer service sucks - during the 10 or so minutes we were there, not one person approached us to offer their assistance, even though we were in full view of at least three not-otherwise-occupied staff members.

And Melly’s been snoring.

Gypsie refuses to go out and pee, and since she won’t pee inside either, I think she may soon explode.

If you haven’t already, go and do my Rain quiz a couple of entries back. There is a prize for the person who gets the most points! Currently the highest scorer is my brother, Mark, who got 23 out of 24 absolutely correct. Can you beat him?

Remember - no using the Internet to look things up. I have spies.
