Belly @ 16 weeks.

Morning sickness has pretty much gone now, though it occasionally makes a reappearance when I’m tired, rundown, or poorly in other ways (like with this dang cold!). I’m starting to get back my taste for some of the foods I went off, like cereal and cake. No true cravings yet! I still haven’t put back on all of the weight I lost through the worst of the morning sickness, but I’m definitely changing shape and my belly and boobs keep on growing!

We have our second obstetrician appointment on Wednesday and will most likely have another scan, so I’ll post pics of that later in the week.

Sometimes I think I can feel the baby fluttering around in there, other times I’m not so sure.

He/she is spoiled already, we’ve received some lovely gifts from friends, and of course my Mum can’t stop buying little bits and pieces! All I’ve bought is a packet of maternity pads - lucky me!

« Oh No - I’ve Got A Cold :: July 27th, 2006

Oh No - I’ve Got A Cold

by Pam Ayres

I am sitting on the sofa.
By the fire and staying in.
Me head is free of comfort
And me nose is free of skin
Me friends have run for cover,
They have left me pale and sick
With me pockets full of tissues
And me nostrils full of Vick

That bloke in the telly adverts,
He’s supposed to have a cold.
He has a swig of whatnot
And he drops off, good as gold,
His face like snowing harvest
Slips into sweet repose.
Well I bet this tortured breathing
Never whistled down his nose.

I burnt me bit of dinner
Cause I’ve lost me sense of smell,
But then, I couldn’t taste it,
So that worked out very well,
I’d buy some, down the cafe,
But I know that at the till,
A voice from work will softly say
“I thought that you were ill”.

So I’m wrapped up in a blanket
With me feet up on a stool,
I’ve watched the telly programmes
And the kids come home from school,
But what I haven’t watched for
Is any sympathy,
Cause all you ever get is:
“Oh no, keep away from me!”

Medicinal discovery,
It moves in mighty leaps,
It leapt straight past the common cold
And gave it us for keeps.
Now I’m not a fussy woman,
There’s no malice in me eye
But I wish that they could cure
the common cold. That’s all. Goodbye.

« e.l.f. :: July 17th, 2006

As a rule, I tend not to wear make-up except if I’m going somewhere special. I’m certainly not one to wear it around the house or out grocery shopping. I much prefer a bare-faced look.

However, e.l.f. (eyes.lips.face.) cosmetics were having a half-price sale recently, so I decided to try a few things out.

I’m in love. Especially with their Clarifying Pressed Powder. I have fairly oily skin and get regular breakouts on the chin. I try to avoid foundation as my skin hates it. If I’m going out, I’ll cover up spots with a little concealer, but that doesn’t do much for the shine on the nose and forehead. I’ve tried varying kinds of powder before but it’s just clogged up my pores and made my skin worse.

Not this stuff! It takes away the shine and leaves my skin feeling soft and clear all day. It’s apparantly supposed to help treat and prevent breakouts, though I won’t use it often enough to know if that claim is true. Still, it’s nice to find a product that actually does what it says it will. You don’t need to use much and it smells pretty to boot! All for the sum of $1.45 - I kid you not.

I also got the Lash & Brow Mascara and Therapeutic Lip Conditioning Balm (I have at least half a dozen tubes and pots of lip balm floating around the house, and another couple in my bag - I love the stuff). Plus some blending wedges, eyeshadow applicators and a lip defining brush, to replace some of my tools which were beginning to look a bit worse for wear.

All up, including postage, my loot came in at under $15.

A girl’s gotta be happy with that!

« Welcome To The Jungle :: July 4th, 2006

This evening I did something I haven’t done in some time - took a long, warm bath.

While I was in there, I decided to do something else I haven’t done in some time - shave my legs.

I just don’t bother in winter. Nobody sees my legs except me, my husband, and the cat. I don’t care, my husband doesn’t, and the cat can’t complain because his are hairier than mine. But I noticed my lower legs were beginning to look rather manly, so I decided to shave from my ankle to just below my knee.

I had to shave each leg three times, and even then I didn’t get all the hair.

And now there’s a lovely layer of fur on the bottom of the tub, which was just cleaned today.

« Music :: July 4th, 2006

I finally used the Bigpond Music voucher I won a couple of months ago, and these are the tracks I got:

Be With You - The Angels (though I actually meant to pick Love Takes Care - grrrr!)

Coming Down - The Angels

Mr Damage - The Angels

Born To Be My Baby - Bon Jovi

What I Am - Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians

What About Love - Heart

Believe - Lenny Kravtiz

Love Rears Its Ugly Head - Living Colour

Cherry Pie - Warrant

Get In The Ring - Guns’n'Roses

Estranged - Guns’n'Roses - oh boy, this one takes me back to grade 10, when I was 15 and continually getting my heart broken by the same stupid boy; I used to listen to this song over and over again and just cry and cry. I ended up getting my own back when I broke his heart when we were much older. HA!
