Pregnancy Brain :: September 28th, 2006

It’s time for breakfast.

I go to the kitchen and start pouring myself a bowl of cereal.

I soon realise I am not pouring my cereal into a bowl.

I am pouring it into a coffee mug.

I’M 30!!!!! :: September 14th, 2006

And still in my pj’s at 6:30pm - that’s what birthdays are for!

Started the day early with a gorgeous phone call from my niece (6) and nephew (4) - two cute little angel voices wishing me a happy birthday. My Mum arrived not long after and gave me a gorgeous square white dinner setting. Now I can finally have people over for dinner and serve them on decent crockery! And we can use the good cutlery set we got for our wedding, still unused three years later…..

My darling boy dragged himself out of bed to get me my favourite coffee and McDonald’s for breakfast, all consumed in bed. To my dismay, McDonald’s no longer serves the Big Breakfast, but I did have my usual Sausage McMuffin and hash brown. Stomach still satisfied.

The boy gave me a book I’ve been wanting - The Husband by Dean Koontz; and one of my favourite DVD’s of all time - Van Halen’s Live Without A Net! Lots of perving on Sammy (you know your husband loves you and is extremely secure in his marriage when he gives you a dvd which contains perve material - AND encourages you to put it on straight away) and spazzing to Eddie’s guitar to come. And Alex does the BEST. DRUM. SOLO. EVER. Srsly, liek woah.

More phone calls, from my best mate Freaky Steve and his darling Mum, my in-laws, and Josh’s grandparents. Got some cards in the mail and some cute stickers, and e-cards, and SMS’s, and e-mails, and blog comments. I feel so loffed!

And then I had a delivery from my in-laws - A FREAKING DISHWASHER! There is a DISHWASHER sitting in the middle of my lounge room! NO MORE doing horrible, hateful DISHES night after night BY HAND! My life will now be RINSE, STACK and UNPACK! Can’t wait to have it installed. w0000000000t!

Lazed around reading in bed most of the morning, because it’s my birthday and if I want to read in bed all morning, I can! Had Cheerios for lunch, because it’s my birthday and if I want to eat cold cereal for lunch, I can! Then I had a deliciously long nap from which I haven’t long woken, because it’s my birthday and if I want to have a long daytime nap, I can!. Boy doesn’t finish work for a bit over an hour, but when he does he’ll bring home my requested chicken & chips for dinner, because it’s my birthday and if I want to eat fast food for dinner, I can! Just ate a Vegemite sandwich to tide me over, and am off to watch Neighbours, because it’s my birthday and if I want to watch trashy Aussie soaps and perve on Dylan, I can!

29 Years & 364 Days :: September 13th, 2006

Yes, that’s right folks - tomorrow, I turn 30.

But before then, an update:

Last Friday, September 8th, was Joshy’s 26th birthday. The poor boy had an interview that day for a temporary promotion at work. But before he left, we had presents (I gave him Star Wars Monopoly) and cake with is parents. I sent him lollies at work, and for dinner that night I made one of his favourites dishes, my homemade macaroni cheese. He said he had a wonderful day :)

The good news is he got that temporary promotion! He’ll be in the role up until about Christmas; it would be longer except he goes on 6 weeks leave on January 2nd for the birth of our baby. He’s stoked, and so am I - he fills in in this position occasionally and loves the work. Plus it means more money for a few months!

I’m doing well, and the baby is fabulous. I get kicked in the bladder fairly often now which can be rather painful, but at least it means the baby is active and healthy! I’ve been buying some maternity clothes from eBay as most of my tops no longer completely cover my belly. Josh’s Mum gave us the cutest little baby socks the other day (scroll across for the spotty ones!). They’re so ickle. Once all this birthday business is over, we’ll start setting up the nursery.

I’ve been working on the final preparations for my party on Sunday. Only a few little bits left to do, plus shop for the food. I’m excited! I especially can’t wait to bottle feed the little lambs and kids.

Tis meant to be spring, but the weather is very late-Augusty this week - cold and windy, and we’ve had a fair bit of rain. So long as it’s fine, warm, sunny and dry with just a slight breeze on Sunday between 10am - 3pm!

So how am I spending the final day of my 20’s? Doing laundry, cleaning the house, and having the dog washed. The fun never ends :razz:

Steve Irwin Dead :: September 4th, 2006

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20349888-2,00.html

THE Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said today.

It is understood he was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest and reportedly into his heart .

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary when the tragedy occured.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) was called about 11am (AEST) and an emergency services helicopter was flown to the crew’s boat on Batt Reef, off the coast near Cairns, with a doctor and emergency services paramedic on board.

Irwin had a puncture wound to the left side of his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Irwin’s body is being flown to Cairns.

Tasmania Police this afternoon confirmed his wife Terri was travelling in the state at the time of the tragedy.

A spokeswoman said police had made contact with Mrs Irwin and “passed on a message relating to the death of her husband”.

The Irwins have two children - a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin, eight, and a three-year-old son, Robert (Bob) Clarence Irwin.

Steve Irwin - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry “Crikey!”.

In an sad twist, it has been reported that his new documentary was aimed at demystifying the stingray.

Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter program was first broadcast in 1992 and has been shown around the world on cable network Discovery.

He has also starred in movies and has developed the Australia Zoo wildlife park, north of Brisbane, which was started by his parents Bob and Lyn Irwin.

Tributes have already started pouring in for the larger-than-life character.

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, who used a photograph of his family at Australia Zoo for his official Christmas card last year, hailed Mr Irwin for his work in promoting Australia.

Irwin was heavily involved in last year’s “G’Day LA” campaign.

“The minister knew him, was fond of him and was very, very appreciative of all the work he’d done to promote Australia overseas,” a spokesman said.

A Tourism Queensland spokeswoman said the death was shocking and paid tribute to Irwin’s “enormous contribution” to his adopted state.

“I don’t think we could even estimate how much he brought us through his personality and his profile and his enthusiasm about Queensland,” she said.
