Nope, not me, but Darcy.
He started acting a bit odd a couple of days ago, staying in the garage most of the day, hiding out in the lawn mower catcher. He’d come out to eat and use the litter tray.
Last night he stopped coming out to use his litter tray and would sit in the garage and meow until I got him and put him in his tray.
This morning when he meowed to pee he’d already begun to wet himself.
We took him to the vet and found he’d lost over 1kg in body weight and was dehydrated. The vet decided to keep him in for a couple of days to run tests and give him IV fluids.
It is of course his kidney disease progressing rapidly. His creatinine levels are through the roof and his blood full of toxins. Hopefully the IV fluids will help that some, and he’s also been started on some medication.
The vet mentioned teaching me to give him fluids by injection under the skin, but pending all the test results this may not be an option as he may just be too ill. I have to ring for more of an update in the morning and to discuss what can be done, if anything.
Ever since he was first diagnosed with kidney disease, I’ve tried to prepare myself for the day things got bad, and I’ve known all along that this could happen. But I still can’t help feeling it’s too soon.
He’s nearly 11, but he’s still my little kitten.

When the Jehovah’s Witnesses come knocking, answer the door with leaky boobs, wearing pyjamas with milk stains all over the chest.
This is particularly funny when you have signs on your front windows stating “No Religious Callers Please”, because when you see the taken-aback and rather embarrassed looks on their faces, you can giggle to yourself “Well, you shouldn’t have bloody well knocked then, should you?”
